  • An enormous aggregation of camouflage groupers (also called marbled groupers, Epinephelus polyphekadion) at Fakarava's south pass (Tomakohua), French Polynesia. This was taken about a week before the spawning event, and does not show full density of fish.

  • This was an incredible find. These three sea slugs are Phestilla sp.—the first anyone in our group had ever seen. They are almost perfectly camouflaged on the coral upon which they sit, and are laying egg spirals as they move. Only the strobe light at an angle makes them pop out enough from the background to be noticed. Photo taken at Hot Rocks in Sangeang, Indonesia.

It is almost perfectly camouflaged on the coral upon which it is sitting, and is laying egg spirals behind it. Only the strobe light at an angle makes this sucker pop out enough from the background to be noticed. Photo taken at Hot Rocks in Sangeang, Indonesia.
